A traditional Chumash story, retold by Chumash and Tataviam elder Alan Salazar, in which Hawk is captured by Swordfish and rescued from an underwater abode by the cunning Coyote. This book includes information from Mr. Salazar about the history of the Chumash plank canoes (tomols) and his involvement revitalizing their use in modern times, as well as art activities for the reader by Mona Lewis.
